"Employee satisfaction and pride for where they work are our commitment – just as much as we wish to leave something behind to those who will come after us. Something to which one can later say, “Here is something created by man which is worth the keeping".
Ludwig Georg Braun, Chairman of the Board at B. Braun Melsungen AG, April 1992
The industrial park Pfieffewiesen lies bedded in a setting with rural character on the south-west edge of the estuary zone in the Pfieffe and Fulda valley. A completely new plant for B. Braun Melsungen AG was built here between 1988 and 1992. The architectural head of the overall park, the geometry of which is characterised by the surrounding landscape, is the new administrative building. The radius of the building follows the contour of the Buschberg hills to the north, and is visible for miles from the main access road going toward the plant. The office floors, mounted on supports span the trapezoidal IT ground levels, whose green patinated copper cladding convey the impression that the surrounding fields find their continuation on the plant grounds.
Creative handling of shape, material and colour as well as the development of innovative details define the project. These were, among other things, the glass-bead blasted stainless steel facade for the administrative floors or the first-ever use of pre-patinated copper cladding in the base areas.
Hella Rolfes was the managing architect for planning and realisation of the administrative building.
